A three-time U.S. bronze medalist with her partner, Zachary Donohue, ice dancer Madison Hubbell spent the first 10 years of her career teamed with her older brother, Keiffer. The Hubbells placed fourth at the 2009 and 2011 U.S. Championships, but decided to split in May 2011. Madison quickly found new success with Donohue, and the new team claimed a bronze medal at the 2012 U.S. Championships. They finished fourth in 2013 and 2014, just missing out on being named to the three-couple ice dancing team for the Sochi Olympics. They’ve slowly advanced in the last three seasons, partly due to an April 2015 move from their Michigan training base to Montreal, Canada. Hubbell and Donohue won three more bronze medals at nationals in 2015, 2016, and 2017. In Montreal, Hubbell and Donohue share the ice with 2010 Olympic ice dance gold medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada and two-time world champions Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France.

Starting off the Olympic season, Hubbell and Donohue won at the U.S. International Classic in September. Then, they earned a bronze medal at their Grand Prix assignment in Canada and a silver at their Japan assignment. They qualified for the Grand Prix Final, where they finished fourth by a slim margin. They won their first U.S. national title in January and were named to the 2018 Olympic team.
