U.S. Ski and Snowboard announced the 16 skiers named to the U.S. freeski team for the 2026 Winter Olympics, and medal hopes will be high for this highly-accomplished group of Americans.

The U.S. will send a full team to Livigno after earning the maximum of quota spots (four men, four women) for both halfpipe and slopestyle/big air.

This season’s competition to make the men’s halfpipe team was one of the fiercest across all Olympic events, as evidenced by the fact seven of the top eight skiers in the World Cup standings are American.

Alex Ferreira entered the season prequalified, while Nick Goepper and Hunter Hess automatically locked up their roster spots over the course of the selection events. As expected, Birk Irving ended up as the fourth man on the team when the full roster was announced.

Ferreira, who secured silver at PyeongChang 2018 and bronze at Beijing 2022, and Goepper, a three-time slopestyle medalist who switched to halfpipe a few seasons ago, are still seeking the first Olympic titles of their storied careers.

Kate Gray, Riley Jacobs and Abby Winterberger were named to the women’s halfpipe team alongside Svea Irving, who locked up her spot during the selection events. This will be the debut Olympics for all four women.

Alex Hall, who prequalified for the team after last season, will attempt to defend his slopestyle title and is always a threat in big air as well. Troy Podmilsak and Mac Forehand, both of whom won X Games big air titles during this Olympic cycle, qualified automatically through the selection events and will be strong medal contenders for Milan Cortina.

The official announcement added Konnor Ralph to the roster as the fourth member of the men’s slopestyle and big air team. Based on his results from the selection events, Ralph was next in line for a spot on the team via objective criteria, but U.S. Ski & Snowboard had the option of naming a discretionary pick. Ralph’s selection means Colby Stevenson, the 2022 Olympic big air silver medalist, will be one of freeskiing’s biggest names to miss out on the Milan Cortina Games.

Rell Harwood, Grace Henderson and Avery Krumme will all make their Olympic debuts after being named to the women’s slopestyle and big air team. Harwood is a three-time X Games medalist, and Krumme is a 17-year-old rookie who has been knocking on the door of a podium finish all season long. They join 2022 Olympian Marin Hamill, who qualified for the team with a 2nd-place finish at the Laax Open, on the roster.
