The 2025 ISU Grand Prix de France kicks off this weekend in Angers, and figure skating fans have plenty to look forward to. As the first stop of the 2025–26 Grand Prix series, the event will feature the world’s top skaters competing across men’s singles, women’s singles, pairs, and ice dance. Every jump, spin, and step sequence counts as athletes aim to earn a place at the Grand Prix Final.
The competition runs from Oct. 17 through 19 at the Angers IceParc, and marks the first chance for fans to see many skaters perform new programs under pressure after a summer of training.
The top U.S. athletes to watch in the men's and women’s events are two-time world champion Ilia Malinin, as well as 2024 world silver medalist Isabeau Levito. They'll be competing along with France’s two-time European champion Adam Siao Him Fa and Japan’s three-time world champion Kaori Sakamoto.
At age 42, Canada’s 2024 world pairs champion Deanna Stellato-Dudek continues to make history with partner Maxime Deschamps. Their first of two Grand Prix outings, the pair will be hoping to come out ahead of two-time world champions, Japan’s Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara.
The Grand Prix de France also marks the first time that 2022 Olympic ice dance champion and five-time world champion Guillaume Cizeron will compete at a major event with new partner Laurence Fournier Beaudry. Formerly competing for Canada, Fournier Beaudry now competes under the French flag, and the pair will face competition from Italy’s Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri, who have been competing together since 2010, and Great Britain’s Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson — who currently are the top ISU ranked ice dance team.
The Grand Prix series progresses the top-six athletes and teams per discipline to the Grand Prix Final, which takes place Dec. 4-7 in Nagoya, Japan.
