The Grand Prix of Figure Skating makes its fifth stop of the 2025–26 season November 14-16 in Lake Placid, New York, as 2025 Saatva Skate America returns to the historic Herb Brooks Arena, host of the inaugural edition of the event in 1979. The Grand Prix serves as a crucial checkpoint for skaters looking to build momentum toward the final and ultimately the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina.
The arena that once echoed with the “Miracle on Ice” now welcomes the sport's top names and a new generation of athletes. Headliners are world champions Alysa Liu, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and Japan’s Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, as well as nine-time Grand Prix medalist, 2014 Olympic team bronze medalist and perennial fan-favorite, Jason Brown.

Ice dance once again promises to be a centerpiece, led by Chock and Bates. The duo, entering what could be their final competitive season, already have cemented themselves as one of the most decorated American ice dance teams in history. A victory in Lake Placid would mark their fifth Skate America title, tying the all-time record. Behind them, Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko continue to push closer to the podium conversation. They will be joined by U.S. 2022 Junior World Champions Oona and Gage Brown.
Leading the women’s field is the reigning world champion Liu, who headlines Team USA’s entries after her landmark comeback season. After an astounding world championship gold-medal win following a two-year retirement, Liu steadily has re-established herself among the sport’s top technical competitors, with complex combinations and strong component scores that rival the best in the world.
She’ll face a challenge from Japan’s Wakaba Higuchi, the 2018 world silver medalist, and 2024 Skate America champion. Higuchi will be looking to overcome a disappointing outing at NHK Trophy, where she placed 9th overall. Her countrywoman, Rinka Watanabe, also will compete at Skate America, one of the select few women who has landed a triple Axel in competition, accompanied by Koreans Kim Chae-Yeon and Lee Hae-In and Americans Starr Andrews and Josephine Lee.
In men’s singles, Brown brings his trademark artistry and consistency to Lake Placid, skating at his first Grand Prix appearance of the season. A two-time Olympian, Brown remains one of the sport’s most expressive performers — less reliant on quad jumps than on fluidity, connection to music, and the kind of clean execution that still draws massive program component scores. He’ll share the ice with France’s Kevin Aymoz, whose explosive energy and personal story has made him a crowd favorite, and Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov, the 2025 world silver medalist, whose technical content could make him the man to beat.
The pairs event highlights a growing depth within the U.S. ranks. Valentina Plazas and Maximiliano Fernandez, Olivia Flores and Luke Wang, and Emily Chan and Spencer Akira Howe will look to prove they belong on the international stage.
The fight for gold likely will be between Georgian duo Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava and Japanese world champions Miura and Kihara. Metelkina and Berulava, representing Georgia, made history when they defeated Miura and Kihara to win the 2024 NHK Trophy, marking the first-ever Grand Prix gold for a Georgian pair.
Fans can catch every moment of the 2025 Skate America live from Lake Placid, N.Y., streaming on Peacock and airing across NBC and E! from Nov. 14–16.
