Breezy Johnson (USA) continued to shine in Cortina, posting the fastest time in the downhill stage of the Olympic team combined on Tuesday (1:36.59).
With the stellar performance, the downhill gold medalist put her partner Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) in the driver’s seat for the slalom portion of the event, where one of the greatest to ever ski will hold a time advantage over the rest of the pack.
Ariane Raedler (AUT) sent it again on the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre, crossing the finish line just six-hundredths of a second behind Johnson (+0.06). Raedler placed 8th in the women’s downhill on Sunday.
Rounding out the top three was Laura Pirovano (ITA) (+0.27), topping her own result in Sunday’s downhill where she came in 6th.
Jackie Wiles (USA) finished fourth, narrowly missing a podium position for the second time in three days. The dynamic Paula Moltzan (USA) will have the chance to catapult the duo into medal range in the morning’s slalom.
The slalom leg of the women's team combined, starring Shiffrin, Camille Rast (SUI), Petra Vlhova (SVK) and more, streams live on Peacock and NBCOlympics.com at 8 a.m. ET.
