Overview
Canoeing at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will be split across two categories: the canoe slalom and the canoe sprint. In the canoe slalom, athletes will race up and down a set course in rougher, open water, navigating certain obstacles. In canoe sprint, athletes compete in flat water in a straight race to the finish line.
Canoeing has been a part of the Olympics since the sprint was introduced during the 1936 Games, while slalom debuted in 1972 (although it didn't return for a second Games until 1992). At the 2024 Paris Olympics, kayak cross became the newest Olympic canoeing event.

Where will the canoeing competition be held at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics?
Canoeing will be held at two venues at the 2028 Olympics, with canoe slalom taking place at the OKC Whitewater Center and canoe sprint at Marine Stadium.
Canoe slalom is one of two sports taking place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with the OKC Whitewater Center serving as host. The Center is an official U.S. Olympic and Paralympic training site and frequent host of national and international competitions. It is located close to the Olympic venue for softball, which will be the only other Olympic sport contested in the state of Oklahoma.
Back in Southern California, the canoe sprint events will be raced at the Marine Stadium in Long Beach. It was the first manmade rowing course in the United States, built for the 1932 Olympic Games. This will be the venue's second Olympics and first Paralympic Games.
