On-Ice History: Partners since 2011

After completing a spellbinding paso doble in Saturday's team event and placing first, Madison Chock and Evan Bates took center stage skating to Lenny Kravitz during the rhythm dance on Monday. Chock and Bates have been hungry for the gold since being left off the ice dance podium in Beijing 2022. The pair started dating in 2017, adopted two toy poodles (Stella and Henry) in 2018, and got engaged in 2022 during a vacation in Thailand. The couple got married in Hawaii, where Chock’s family is from, in June 2024.

Chock spoke about the evolution of their relationship in the Netflix’s documentary series Glitter & Gold: Ice Dancing, explaining how 2026 will be their last competitive season, so “the stakes are higher because it is the last hurrah.”

On-Ice History: Partners since 2010

Dating since 2009, the Italian powerhouse ice dance duo Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri have been together for 17 years. On Monday, Guignard and Fabbri entered onto the ice with a Backstreet Boys medley. The pair rocked their bodies to an energetic dance routine filled with lifts and twizzles, proving themselves to be a great technical team.

Their coach Barbara Fusar-Poli cheered them on from the boards; she competed 20 years ago when the Winter Olympics were held in Torino, Italy. Guignard and Fabbri shared a smooch after hitting their final pose, soaking in the limelight in their home country.

Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin (Georgia)

Off-Ice Status: Married since 2022 👰

On-Ice History: Partners since 2018

The married couple Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin, who previously competed for Russia in 2022, are now representing Georgia in the 2026 Winter Olympics. In December, Davis opened up on social media about having bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. The condition, which she developed at only two years old, impacts her speech and makes it difficult for her to hear certain sounds and frequencies. She’s able to hear music well and feel the emotion, but often can’t understand the words. Davis shared this experience to uplift those with similar challenges.

Davis and Smolkin rocked the ice on Monday, hitting each beat with energy and power. Davis began the routine by holding Smolkin’s face as they gazed passionately into each other’s eyes, afterward sharing a snog.

Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik (USA)

Off-Ice Status: Dating since 2022 🥰

On-Ice History: Partners since 2022

The Michigan-based ice skating duo has burst onto the scene in their Olympic debut at Milan Cortina. Vadym Kosenik, who was born in Ukraine, just obtained U.S. citizenship last summer. The war in Ukraine has affected Kosenik’s life drastically, and he has poured his emotions into skating.

"The first time I skated with Emilea I felt something special," Kolesnik said. "I felt like I can be myself. She opens up in the way that I want to skate and that's how it comes out — freedom."

Emilea Zingas jumped into Kolesnik’s arms as he pulled her into a tight embrace immediately after completing their routine. Johnny Weir described their dance as “sharp, intricate and seductive.” This rhythm dance event was incredibly meaningful to them, as Kolesnik was able to fly two family members from Ukraine for their first Olympics.

Milla Ruud Reitan and Nikolaj Majorov (Sweden)

Off-Ice Status: Dating 💘

On-dance history: Partners since 2023

Milla Ruud Reitan is a Norwegian-born figure skater who received Swedish citizenship in January, just in time to compete in her first Olympics alongside her boyfriend, Nikolaj Majorov. Reitan and Majorov skated to Ricky Martin’s "Livin’ La Vida Loca" in the rhythm dance.

Marking Sweden’s first time competing in Olympic ice dance, the couple sealed their top-20 spot with a passionate lip-lock at the end of their routine.

Marie-Jade Lauriault and Romain Le Gac (Canada)

Off-Ice Status: Married since 2015 💒

On-Ice History: Partners since 2014

Married and skating together for over a decade, Marie-Jade Lauriault and Romain Le Gac initially represented Le Gac’s birth country of France when they first partnered in 2014. The couple made their Olympic debut at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games in 2018, and in 2020 they decided to begin competing for Canada, where Lauriault was born and raised.

The pair faced a difficult challenge when they found out in early December they could not use the Prince music they had built their program around. After changing their routine with not much time before the Olympics, Lauriault and Le Gac successfully secured their spot in Wednesday’s Olympic ice dance final alongside their fellow Canada teammates.

Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmanin (Armenia)

Off-Ice Status: Dating since 2019 😍

On-Ice History: Partners since 2020

Russian-born skaters Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmanin decided to represent Armenia during the 2022-2023 season. Already dating beforehand, the pair first teamed up in February 2020.

Their journey to the 2026 Winter Olympics has been far from easy. At the beginning of the 2021-2022 season, Akopova fractured her vertebra, which led to the development of a serious back injury. Akopova began to suffer from panic attacks because of the unbearable pain, forcing the pair to withdraw from competitions. After nine months of seeing different doctors, Akopova was finally able to receive a diagnosis: inflammation of the piriformis muscle, which in turn, had been pressing on the sciatic nerve and caused her right leg to not work.

The path for the pair was long and difficult, as Akopova had to recover both physically and psychologically, but now they have both officially entered the Olympic ice filled with passion.

Their short program is full of gorgeous throws and side-by-sides choreographed to popular Armenian folk song “Artsakh.”

Daria Danilova and Michel Tsiba (Netherlands)

Off-Ice Status: Dating since 2018 🫶

On-Ice History: Partners since 2018

Daria Danilova and Michel Tsiba just made history as the first pair team representing the Netherlands to compete at the Olympics. Danilova, 23 years old, and Tsiba, 28 years old, placed 15th at the World Championships last year. Their partnership is built on persistence, belief and a shared dream of carrying the Dutch flag onto the Olympic ice.

Danilova was born in Moscow, Russia but obtained Dutch citizenship in 2024. Tsiba was born in Groningen to a Russian father and Ukrainian mother, making him fluent in Russian. The pair quickly became romantic partners after teaming up in 2018.

Skating to “Take Back the Power” by Raury in their pairs short program, the couple visibly gained momentum, confidence and power as the audience clapped along to the beat. Johnny Weir described their program as having one of the most spectacular twists in the competition; their routine was a statement piece with height and power.

The pair was so thrilled at the conclusion of their crisp, clean routine on Sunday, pumping their fists in the air and kissing the ice. They shared a tight embrace and Tsiba affectionately kissed Danilova on the forehead. Danilova did “heart hands” to the cameras.

Camille Kovalev Pavel Kovalev (France)

Off-Ice Status: Married since 2017 ❤️

On-Ice History: Partners since 2014

The 31-year-old French skater Camille Kovalev teamed up with the Russian skater Pavel Kovalev in 2014 and got married in December 2017. The pair is now a five-time French national champion duo and making their Olympic debut in Milan.

The pair recently competed for the 2025 NHK Trophy in November, organized and hosted by the Japan Skating Federation. Camille dislocated her shoulder following a tough fall on their side-by-side triple toe attempt during their short program, resulting in the pair withdrawing from the competition.

Back on the ice and better than ever, the French pair skaters skated their short program to “Une vie d’amour,” a melancholic French classic showcasing their lyrical, elegant and romantic style. The duo is coached by Bruno Massot, the 2018 Olympic Pairs Champion. After maximizing their technical score with elements like the triple twist and difficult throw jumps, the pair locked lips on the ice at the end of their short program.
