The final day of cross-country skiing at the World Cup stop in Trondheim, Norway wrapped up with the women's and men's 10km interval start free events.
The interval start event essentially is a race against the clock, and Swedish teammates Ebba Andersson and Moa Ilar battled against each other's times up until the very end. Andersson used a late burst to take home her first World Cup victory of the season with a time of 26:05.3. Ilar finished just two seconds behind to clinch second.
Jessie Diggins finished the race 16.5 seconds behind the top spot to secure the final podium spot for Team USA. During the first 5km lap, Diggins and Andersson were neck-and-neck, but during the final lap, the Swedish skier was able to put some distance between her and the American. Diggins remains the overall World Cup leader after two weeks of the 2025-26 season.
In the men's 10km interval start free competition, Norway swept the podium in a familiar-looking victory ceremony. In fact, the Norwegians didn't just take home the top-three spots in front of their home crowd, they secured the top-seven finishes in the race.
Einar Hedegart won the 10km free with a time of 23:02.1 and battled the whole way to the finish with teammate Andreas Fjorden Ree. Ree finished just 0.4 seconds behind to take second place. Martin Loewstroem Nyenget wrapped up the final podium spot after he finished 10.1 seconds behind Hedegart. Nyenget also sits third on the overall World Cup leaderboard.
Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo finished 7th and remains the overall World Cup leader.
For the U.S., Gus Schumacher finished in 11th place and landed just 0.3 seconds outside the top ten. Schumacher's teammate, Zak Ketterson, ended the race 23rd overall.
The next World Cup stop is in Davos, Switzerland beginning on Dec. 12 with the men's and women's team sprint free events.
