World Cup biathlon competition resumed in Hochfilzen, Austria with the men's 12.5km pursuit and the women's 4x6km relay events. Clear skies and very little wind paved the way for a day of beautiful races.
In the men's 12.5km pursuit, Eric Perrot of France shot perfectly and finished the course in 30:06.2 for his first win of the season and his first-ever World Cup pursuit victory.
Italy's Tommaso Giacomel finished 10.2 seconds behind the Frenchman to secure silver in the pursuit. On Friday, Giacomel won gold in the men's 10km sprint and finished just four seconds ahead of Perrot — swapping podium spots a day later.
Johan-Olav Botn of Norway clinched bronze and finished 29 seconds behind Perrot. On Friday, Botn just barely was edged out of podium spot in the sprint by Germany's Philipp Horn.
Team USA's Campbell Wright finished 8th.
In the women's 4x6km relay, Sweden crushed the competition. They took home gold with a time of 1:06.52.4 as Ella Halvarsson, Anna Magnusson, Elvira Oeberg and Hanna Oeberg flew through the course and finished 40.3 seconds ahead of Norway.
The Norwegians, led by Marthe Krakstad Johansen, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Karoline Offigstad Knotten and Maren Kirkeeide, claimed silver.
Anna Weidel, Julia Tannheimer, Janina Hettich-Walz and Vanessa Voigt grabbed the final podium spot for Germany and finished 11 seconds behind Norway.
The U.S. women's team placed 15th overall.
