Swiss stars Franjo von Allmen and Tanguy Nef made history in Bormio on Monday, winning gold in the Winter Olympic debut of the men's team combined. The duo, also known as Team All or Nefing (a pun on both of their names) posted a cumulative time of 2:44.04.
It was von Allmen's second gold medal in three days, having snagged his first in the men's downhill on Saturday. He's the only athlete as of this writing to claim multiple gold medals at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games.
Nef played an indispensable role in von Allmen's double gold status. The 29-year-old posted the quickest Run 2 time after von Allmen was fourth fastest in Run 1, making up more than half a second to secure victory for his team.
Austrians Vincent Kriechmayr and Manuel Feller, as well as Swiss skiers Marco Odermatt and Loic Meillard finished with same exact time (+0.99), earning both tandems a silver medal.
The team combined is a brand-new event to the Winter Olympics, pairing a country’s top downhill skier with a top slalom skier. Each athlete throws down a run in their respective discipline, and the squad with the fastest combined time is declared the winner.
Countries may start multiple duos based on the depth of their Olympic rosters. Italy, Switzerland and Austria had four men's pairs skiing in Bormio, while the U.S. has one.
The team combined was first staged in major competition at the 2025 World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria. Switzerland swept the podium there, with von Allmen and Loic Meillard (SUI) emerging victorious.
Americans Kyle Negomir, who placed 10th in the men’s Olympic downhill — earning him the Team USA slot in the team combined — and River Radamus (USA), the country's best technical racer, finished 19th (out of 20) in the team combined. Radamus is expected to compete in the giant slalom on Saturday, Feb. 14.
The women's team combined streams live on Peacock and NBCOlympics.com. After its conclusion, the fourth set of Alpine skiing medals of the 2026 Winter Games will be awarded.
