French taekwondoin Haby Niaré is ending her career at 27 years old.

Niaré was France's only taekwondo medalist from the Rio Olympics in 2016. She advanced all the way to the gold medal match in the women's under-67 kilograms division, but fell to South Korea's Oh Hye-ri 13-12 in a nail-biter.

Aside from earning the silver medal at the Rio Games, Niaré won gold at the World Taekwondo Championships in 2013, as well as a gold at the 2010 European Taekwondo Championships.

"I am and will remain a champion of emotions," said Niaré in a statement shared by French Federation of Taekwondo and Related Disciplines.

"I'll be at the front row cheering on my sisters and brothers in arms for the rest of the Olympic adventure."
