A century of German excellence

Since the four-man event first debuted at Chamonix 1924, a German sled has reached the podium in all but seven Olympic Games. They have 10 gold medals, six silver and six bronze.

And in 2026, they could claim another gold — or even sweep the podium altogether.

Team Germany already swept the two-man podium on Tuesday, and those three pilots —  Johannes LochnerFrancesco Friedrich and Adam Ammour — will return to pilot the three top-seeded four-man sleds.

Friedrich is the defending repeat gold medalist in the event and could very well go for his own three-peat. However, Lochner will have the upper hand and may be hard to overpower after he beat Friedrich by a monstrous 1.34 seconds in the two-man event.

Another one to watch is the Great Britain sled piloted by Brad Hall. Great Britain is seeking its first four-man bobsled medal since taking bronze at Sochi 2014.

The Americans

Also seeking its first four-man medal since Sochi is Team USA.

Kris Horn will pilot the higher-seeded of the two U.S. sleds, which includes Caleb FurnellHunter Powell and Carsten Vissering. They were ranked No. 11 during the World Cup season.

Horn enters his second Olympic Games after placing 10th at Beijing 2022. Furnell, Powell and Vissering will all make their Olympic debuts.

Frank Del Duca will pilot the No. 27-seeded sled and is joined by Boone NiederhoferBryan Sosoo and Joshua Williamson. Del Duca and Williamson finished in 4th in the two-man event on Tuesday.

Del Duca finished 13th at Beijing 2022 in the four-man competition, but has seen some success on the world stage since then. The 34-year-old came in 4th at the 2025 World Championships and will look to achieve his best-ever four-man result after doing so in the two-man.
