The Grand Prix of Figure Skating continues with the 2025 Cup of China in Chongqing from Oct. 24–26. The event marks the second of six stops in the 2025–26 ISU Grand Prix Series, following the Grand Prix de France and leading into Skate Canada International. Fans can expect three days of elite competition in men’s and women’s singles, pairs, and ice dance, as many of the world’s top skaters debut new programs and aim for early points toward the Grand Prix Final.
This year’s lineup features a strong U.S. contingent, headlined by reigning World Ice Dance champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates, reigning world women’s champion, Alysa Liu and reigning Grand Prix Final champion, Amber Glenn.
For three-time world champions, Chock and Bates, the event is a key moment in their Olympic-cycle campaign and a chance to solidify their dominance.
Fresh off a world title and an inspiring return from retirement, Liu makes her Grand Prix season debut in Chongqing. The 20-year-old American, known for her powerful jumps and dynamic artistry, begins her Olympic-season campaign against one of the toughest fields of the early Grand Prix circuit.
Joining her is two-time U.S. national champion Glenn, who’s coming off a breakout year that included a second U.S. national title and multiple international podiums. Glenn’s consistency and emotional skating have made her one of the sport’s most compelling competitors heading into Milan.
The two Americans face strong international competition, including Japan’s Hana Yoshida and Rinka Watanabe, and South Korea’s Lee Hae-In and Shin Jia — all capable of world-class performances. With so many contenders chasing early Grand Prix points, the women’s event could be one of the most closely fought of the season.
The event also marks the return of Sui Weijing and Han Cong, who count gold medals at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, silver in Pyeongchang and two world titles among their many accolades. After announcing their retirement in 2023, the pair will be back for more heading into the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.
The ISU Grand Prix Cup of China will showcase men’s, women’s, pairs, and ice dance competition across three days at the Chongqing Huaxi Culture & Sports Center.
Live coverage will air Friday and Saturday on Peacock, with a highlight show airing Saturday on NBC at 3 p.m. ET.
