What to know about snowboarding at the 2026 Winter Olympics

The snowboard program for Milan Cortina includes three park and pipe disciplines (halfpipe, slopestyle, big air) and two racing disciplines (snowboard cross, parallel giant slalom).

No snowboarder ever has won a gold medal at three consecutive Winter Olympics, but three women β€” American Chloe Kim (women's halfpipe), Austria's Anna Gasser (women's big air) and Czechia's Ester Ledecka (women's parallel giant slalom) β€” all are vying to become the first. Kim once again os a heavy favorite in women's halfpipe but will face a formidable field that includes teammate Maddie Mastro and rising teenage stars Gaon Choi (South Korea) and Rise Kudo (Japan).

Men's snowboard halfpipe has the potential to be one of the marquee events of the Milan Cortina Games. Japan's Ayumu Hirano and Australia's Scotty James remain two of the strongest gold-medal contenders following their duel four years ago in Beijing, but rising stars like New Zealand's Cam Melville Ives and American Alessandro Barbieri have joined the mix.

In slopestyle and big air, New Zealand's Zoi Sadowski-Synnott has become the rider to beat in the women's events. The men's field is wide open with stars like Red Gerard (USA), Ollie Martin (USA), Su Yiming (China) and Cameron Spalding (Canada) all in contention.
