The men's 10km sprint competition took center stage on day six of the IBU World Cup in Ostersund, Sweden. 103 biathletes started the race, which is the predecessor to the men's 12.5km pursuit taking place Sunday.

Johan-Olav Botn of Norway earned the World Cup victory in the sprint event, despite the snowy and windy conditions on the course. Botn clinched his second-straight World Cup win in a time of 24:26.3. He also won the men's 20km individual event on Dec. 3 to earn his first-ever World Cup victory.

Martin Uldal just was 11.1 seconds behind his teammate to also claim second place on the podium for Norway. Uldal also finished runner-up to Botn in the 20km individual competition.

However, France's Quentin Fillon Maillet ruined the podium party for Norway, and finished 14.3 seconds behind Botn to seal the final podium spot. Maillet edged out Norway's Sturla Holm Laegreid by just over ten seconds to earn his 60th individual podium. The entire podium shot perfectly from the range on a day with taxing conditions, due to falling snow and blustery wind.

For Team USA, Maxime Germain finished a personal-best 11th overall and Campbell Wright finished 18th in the pack.

Wright outskied the field for much of the event and appeared to be primed for a podium spot during the race. However, two misses on the shooting range resulted in two penalty laps for Wright, which removed him from contention.

Botn remains the overall World Cup leader and holds on to the yellow bib.

Sunday is the final day of World Cup competition in Ostersund. The men and women both will be back in action on Dec. 7 for the men's 12.5km pursuit and the women's 10km pursuit events.
