In his second race of the third World Cup, Jordan Stolz extended his unbeaten streak in the men's 1000m, setting his second track record of the weekend in Heerenveen.
Paired against Dutch rival Jenning de Boo, the 21-year-old world record holder zipped around the track, crossing the finish line in a new best time of 1:06.38 minutes. The previous mark, held by de Boo, was 1:07.08. The win marked Stolz's eighth in 12 races this campaign.
On the first day of competition, Stolz won his third 1500m gold of the season, shaving 0.45 seconds off a five-year-old track record held by the Netherlands' own Kjeld Nuis. Nuis finished 2nd behind Stolz.
Germany's Finn Sonnekalb, who is ranked 2nd in the 1500m behind Stolz, skated to his first 1000m podium in Heerenveen. His mark of 1:07.42 set a new junior track record.
Racing on her home ice, Joy Beune remained undefeated in the 1500m, winning her third race of the season in the distance. The Dutch skater now has five individual golds in six races.
Brittany Bowe finished just off the podium in 4th, rising from 5th place in the 1500m World Cup rankings to 4th.
Czechia's Metodej Jilek set a new track record in the 10,000m, outpacing world record holder Davide Ghiotto by 3.74 seconds for gold. The 19-year-old posted a final time of 12:29.63, two seconds faster than Nils van der Poel's previous rink best.
Last season, Ghiotto became the first man to average sub-30-second laps throughout the entire 25-lap race.
American Casey Dawson, who last season shattered a 20-year-old national record in the distance, finished 6th.
