The U.S. skeleton team put together a string of strong performance at the IBSF World Cup in St. Mortiz-Celerina, just one month away from the start of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Games.

Kelly Curtis was the standout performer of the day, rocketing to a silver-medal finish in the women’s event, while Mystique Ro and Austin Florian continued to impress with another top-5flkn finish in the mixed team event.

Despite picking up the team’s only hardware of the day, Curtis was a longshot to make the podium after dropping into 9th place after the first heat in the women’s event. However, an electric second run launched Curtis into second place, just 1.11 seconds behind winner Kim Meylemans. This marks Curtis’ second career IBSF World Cup podium, with her last time being a third-place finish in December 2022. With her victory, Meylemans retook the lead into the women’s World Cup standings, after briefly dropping to second place after finishing 7th in Winterberg. Brazil’s Nicole Rocha Silveira rounded out the women’s podium in third place, finishing 0.06 seconds behind Curtis.

After taking silver in Winterberg, Ro looked poised for another strong performance after the first heat, which put her in seventh. However, Ro hit a snag at the end of her second run, which ultimately dropped her down into 11th position. Later in the day, Ro bounced back in the mixed team event with Florian, finishing tied for 5th place, 0.50 seconds off the winning pace. It is another strong performance for the pair, who currently sit second in the overall mixed team World Cup standings after four races.

China’s Dan Zhao and Zheng Yin secured the win in the mixed team event with a total time of 2:26.16, with Germany’s Susanne Kreher and Axel Jungk in second just 0.09 seconds behind. Italy’s Alessandra Fumagalli and Amedeo Bagnis rounded out the podium in third place, under three tenths of a second off the lead. In an impressive display of Team USA’s growing depth, Curtis and partner Nicholas Tucker also made the top 10, finishing in eighth place for the second straight race.

In the men’s event, Florian remained Team USA’s strongest competitor, posting his second straight top-10 finish. Great Britain’s Matt Weston took home the victory, continuing his nearly-perfect season where he has won all but one race (in which he finished second). Bagnis finished behind Weston in second, while Germany’s Christopher Grotheer took third place.

The IBSF World Cup continues with the women’s monobob and 4-man bobsled events. Coverage begins at 3 a.m. ET.
