Lilly King is bringing home all the bling in 2024.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist qualified for her second event at the Paris Games with a second-place finish in the women’s 200m breaststroke final at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, finishing behind Kate Douglass

When King climbed out of the pool, she was greeted with a surprise proposal, and a ring, from her longtime boyfriend (now fiancé) James Wells. She said yes!

The couple are a product of the Indiana University swimming program. King is a Hoosier legend, while Wells was a sprint specialist from 2010-2014. King started her freshman year in 2015.

“Having this be in [Lilly’s] home state is so incredible,” Wells said. “All of us that swam at IU, together, did all this stuff together, this is such a powerful swimming state, and it just means so much to her to be here in front of this crowd.”

As King looks to add more hardware in Paris, she already has gotten a head start on her jewelry case for the summer.
