Madison Chock was born in Redondo Beach, California to father Wesley, a Hawai'i native and American Airlines flight attendant, and mother Barbara, a former backup singer for Hawaiian singer Don Ho. Chock's parents, who met in Hawai'i, moved to Novi, Michigan, when Chock decided to pursue figure skating more competitively at age 12. A graduate of Novi High School, Chock began seriously skating shortly before she turned 16, skating full-time after her high school graduation.
