Italy 9, Great Britain 7 (Session 1)
A score of four in the first end gave Italy a lead they wouldn't relinquish in a win on Friday over the defending world champions.
In the opening end, Great Britain was sitting count one when Bruce Mouat attempted to take out two Italian stones with his hammer throw. He missed badly, instead taking out two of his own stones to allow Italy to steal four and take a huge lead early.
But Team GB wasn't done just yet. They scored two in the fourth and stole another in the fifth, and did the same thing in the eighth and ninth ends to tie the score at 7-7 going into the final end.
In the 10th, Joel Retornaz came up with a big double-takeout on Italy's penultimate throw while sitting one of his own. All Great Britain could do is throw a draw, which Retornaz again took out for two points and the Italian win.
Retornaz made 93 percent of his takeout attempts and 100 percent of his draws in the win.
Great Britain (2-1) took the afternoon session off and return to play Czechia at 3:05 a.m. ET.

Norway 8, China 6 (Session 1)
A takeout in the 11th gave Norway an extra-ends victory over China on Thursday.
In the 11th, China's Xu Xiaoming threw a guard that came up short of the house on his team's final throw. All Magnus Ramsfjell had to do was take out China's lone sitting stone, which he did with ease, leaving his team a pair of stones in the eight-foot for two points and the win.
China secured the extra end with a single point in the 10th.
Norway (1-1) picks up its first victory in Cortina and will have Friday's evening session off before returning to face Czechia at 3:05 a.m. ET on Saturday.

Norway 7, Czechia 4 (Session 2)
Holding a three-point lead with three rocks remaining in the 10th, Norway peeled off Czechia's only remaining stone in the house, forcing a concession by the Czechs as they ran out of rocks in a loss to the Norwegians.
From the third through eighth ends, every time Czechia would score one Norway would respond with two.
Norway (2-1) will get Friday off and return on Sunday to take on Italy at 3:05 a.m. ET.
Czechia (0-2) will be back on the ice at 8:05 a.m. ET on Friday to face Great Britain.

Canada 8, Sweden 6 (Session 2)
Canada scored four in the eighth and held on the rest of the way for a win over the defending Olympic gold medalists.
In the eighth, Niklas Edin's takeout attempt caught the Canadian stones too thin, leaving Canada lying three with just the hammer remaining. Brad Jacobs drew his final stone to the inside for four and a commanding 7-4 lead with two ends to play.
Sweden got two back in the ninth to pull within one, but Canada benefited the hammer in the 10th. On Edin's final throw of the match, all he could do was draw to the inside of an empty house. He got close, but Jacobs' hammer was closer, giving Canada one more in the 10th for the win.
Canada improves to 3-0 and jumps to the top of the tournament standings. They'll next face Switzerland on Saturday at 8:05 a.m. ET. At the same time Sweden will face China. The Swedish team needs a week after falling 0-3 so far in Cortina.

Germany 6, Italy 5 (11 ends) (Session 2)
An extra ends win for Germany handed Italy its first loss of their home Olympics on Friday.
On Italy's final throw in the 11th, Joel Retornaz drew his rock onto the button to leave his team sitting two. Marc Muskatewitz responded. He sent Germany's stone down the ice with big weight, moving the Italian rock off the button while sitting for the single point needed to win.
Germany previously put up three in the eighth to go ahead 5-4 after trailing in every end up to that point. Italy scored one in the 10th to force the extra end.
Both teams now sit 2-1 overall. Germany will return at 8:05 a.m. ET on Saturday to take on the United States. Italy will take Saturday off and be back at 3:05 a.m. ET on Sunday to face Norway.

Switzerland 9, China 7 (Session 2)
The Swiss squad scored single points in each of the final three ends on the way to a two-point win over China on Friday.
In the 10th, Benoit Scwarz-van Berkel took out China's sitting stone, leaving Switzerland lying two on opposite sides of the four-foot. China's only option was to attempt to peel off both rocks, but Xu Xaoming's throw was too light, giving Yannick Schwaller's team another point and the win.
Switzerland improves to 3-0. They'll be back on the ice at 8:05 a.m. ET on Saturday with a showdown against the other unbeaten team, Canada.
Also at 8:05 a.m. ET, China will face Sweden in a matchup of two winless team.
