Canada 5, Norway 4

For the first time since 2014, Canada's men's curling team will play in the gold medal game at the Olympics.

After Norway scored two in the 10th to force an extra end of Thursday's semifinal, the Canadians kept them out of the inside of the house in the 11th. Brad Jacob's first throw was a draw to the button to leave his team lying two, and Norway had no answer. Magnus Ramsfjell's final throw was a runback attempt off a stone on the side of the 12-foot. The rock overcurled just a bit too high and missed the Canadian rock, clinching the win for Canada.

Canada is now guaranteed at least silver, which will be the country's record 13th Olympic curling medal of all time.

Thursday was the lowest scoring game of the tournament for both teams. Through eight ends, neither side had scored more than a single point in any frame. Canada had a lead after drawing to the button for one in the second and stealing another single in the third. Jacobs took out Norway's only stone in the house and placed his on the T-Line in the eight foot behind a guard. Ramsfjell's ensuing hammer throw hit a guard, leaving the Canadians with that one in the house for a 2-0 lead.

The two teams blanked two of the next six ends, and Canada had just a slight 3-2 lead heading into the ninth.

They made it 4-2 with a single in the penultimate. Ramsfjell came away with a perfect double-takeout on his final stone, but Jacobs responded by sending a bullet down the ice and taking out everything on the T-Line, leaving Canada sitting a lone stone in the four-foot.

Jacobs tried for a double on his final throw of the 10th, but one Norwegian stone rolled back in slightly. Ramsfjell then just put his hammer in the four-foot to tie the score at 4-4 and send the game to extra ends.

Canada had 53 takeouts to just 44 for Norway. Marc Kennedy had a game-high 18 takeouts in the win. Jacobs added 16 and Brett Gallant had 14.

Ramsfjell led his team with 15 takeouts.

Norway will now play in the bronze medal game. A Norwegian men's curling team hasn't won an Olympic medal since 2010.

Great Britain 8, Switzerland 5

Great Britain will get another shot at gold.

After losing in the gold medal game at the 2022 Olympics, Bruce Mouat's team is going back thanks to an 8-5 victory over Switzerland in the men's curling semifinals on Thursday.

Switzerland went up 2-0 in the second, and doubled their score in the fourth on a throw by Benoit Schwarz-van Berkel that hit a stone just outside the house into the 12-foot and while also carrying inside for a 4-2 lead.

Great Britain responded with a single point in the fifth and a steal of one more in the sixth. On his final throw, Bruce Mouat took out a Swiss stone and the rock slide to the button behind other a yellow guard. Berkel's hammer throw hit the guard, and Great Britain tied the score, 4-4.

Mouat then saved the game with a triple-takeout on his final throw of the seventh, giving his team one.

Switzerland put up a single point in the eighth, and Great Britain went back ahead in the ninth. After the final Swiss shot went too far right, Great Britain was already lying one, so Mouat threw a draw to the four-foot to make it 6-5 with one end to play.

Mouat's final throw 10th drew to the back of the four-foot, leaving Great Britain sitting two behind a host of guards with just Switzerland's hammer remaining. Berkel's runback attempt hit the first stone, but it rolled too far, and both of Great Britain's stones sat, giving them two more for a three-point win.

Team GB only narrowly made the semifinals thanks to a loss by Italy in the morning's session of round-robin play. Great Britain was just 5-4 in round robin play.

With the win, they knocked out the top team in the tournament. Switzerland earned the No. 1 seed after going a perfect 9-0 in round-robin play.

Switzerland will play in the bronze medal game, looking for the country's first Olympic men's curling medal since 2018 and fifth of all time.
