Given Milan’s status as one of the world’s foremost fashion capitals, style is sure to be at the forefront of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. Nowhere will that be more evident than at the Opening Ceremony, and more specifically, during the Parade of Nations, when athletes from around the world don spectacular uniforms that pay homage to the countries they represent.
Mongolia has made an early bid to be the showstopper.
Goyol Cashmere, based in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, has delivered a stunning ensemble that reimagines the traditional deel garments — long belted robes — of the nomadic Mongol Empire in the 13th century.
Three athletes are set to represent Mongolia at the 2026 Winter Games: Alpine skier Ariunbat Altanzul, along with cross-country skiers Achbadrakh Batmunkh and Ariuntungalag Enkhbayar.
Milan Cortina marks the 16th Winter Games to include Mongolia, which remains in search of its first Winter Olympic medal.
Mongolia’s uniforms were also among the most memorable looks of the 2024 Paris Olympics, highlighted by ornate, embroidered vests.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics will air on NBC and stream on Peacock and NBC Olympics platforms on Friday, Feb. 6, beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
