American trampoline gymnast Nicole Ahsinger took third place a the 2021 Brescia World Cup in Italy last weekend, unofficially clinching the United States a quota spot in the trampoline competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 23-year-old Ahsinger, who finished 15th at the 2016 Olympics, scored a 53.905 in the final. Japan's Hikaru Mori, the gold medalist at the 2019 World Trampoline Gymnastics Championships, won the event with a 55.110 and Russia's Anna Kornetskata took second with a 54.055. USA Gymnastics said that it expects the International Gymnastics Federation will confirm the spot "later this month."
Alongside Jessica Stevens, Ahsinger also finished fourth in the women's synchronized trampoline contest. On the men's side, Americans Jeffrey Gluckstein and Aliaksei Shostak finished third.
