It was a sea of red on the sprint classic course on day two of the cross-country skiing World Cup in Ruka, Finland, as Norway took the top spots in the women's and men's sprint classic finals amid wet snow and challenging conditions.

Six skiers advanced to both the women's and men's sprint classic final events after a morning of qualification races.

In the women's sprint classic final, half of the field represented Sweden and teammates Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist battled to a photo-finish ending. Norway's Kristine Stavaas Skistad won the race in 2:53:22 and is the current sprint World Cup leader. Sundling and Dahlqvist took second and third.

American Olympian Jessie Diggins narrowly missed the cut for the final after finishing fifth in her semifinal and ended the day 10th overall. Fellow American and two-time Olympian Rosie Brennan finished 15th.

In the men's sprint classic final, four out of six skiers were from Norway. Klaebo dominated in a way that only he can, finishing in 2:30:03 and taking a bow after crossing the finish line first for his 99th individual World Cup win.

"I felt quite motivated after yesterday, so it was good to be on the top again," Klaebo said after finishing second in the men's 10km interval start classic.

Norway swept the podium on the men's side with teammates Erik Valnes and Ansgar Evensen taking second and third, respectively, in a photo finish.

U.S. teammates Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher finished 12th and 25th, respectively.

Competition wraps up in Ruka with the men's and women's 20km mass start free events. Klaebo has a chance to make history as he aims for his 100th victory in an individual World Cup event and Diggins looks to repeat her 2024 20km mass start free win.
