The cross-country skiing World Cup weekend wrapped up in Oberhof, Germany with the men's and women's 10km interval start classic competitions.

The men ushered in the final day of racing as the sun glistened on the track for the staggered start event.

It was Martin Loewstroem Nyenget of Norway who won the 10km classic in 21 minutes and 9.1 seconds and showed he's ready for this moment.

This was Nyenget's second win of the season, after he won the 10km classic in Ruka, Finland at the end of November.

The Norwegian cross-country skier bowed out of the Tour de Ski to practice and prepare for the rest of the World Cup season and the Olympics, and he spoke about his intense regimen after the race. "I've been training like crazy for three or four weeks now. It's great to be here in Oberhof, great conditions and great weather, it's fun to race," Nyenget said after his win.

livo Niskanen finished the 10km classic in second place, after the Finnish skier crossed the line 13.8 seconds after Nyenget.

Nyenget's Norwegian teammate Erik Valnes just barely was edged out of the second podium spot by 0.7 seconds but safely secured third.

On the women's side, it was a competitive 10km interval start classic race and came right down to the wire.

However, it was Sweden's Moa Ilar who stole the show and topped the podium in 24 minutes and 37 seconds.

The victory was the Swedish cross-country skier's first World Cup win of the season and the third individual World Cup win of her career.

"I'm very happy to get all the way to first place. I was struggling very early in the race, so I was very happy that I managed to keep it up," Ilar said after the race.

Ilar also said she's looking forward to the upcoming Olympics and is aiming for the overall World Cup title. Right now, Ilar sits in second place on the overall World Cup leaderboard behind Team USA's Jessie Diggins.

Austria's Teresa Stadlober secured her ninth World Cup podium after she finished 0.7 seconds behind Ilar. The Austrian skier nearly overtook Ilar for the win in a thrilling finish.

Jonna Sundling crossed the finish line 20.1 seconds behind Stadlober to claim the final podium spot, the 57th of her career.

Diggins finished just off the podium after she crossed the finish line 9.3 seconds behind Sundling. The "pain cave" queen powered through the last climb and collapsed after the race. The U.S. cross-country skier won the Tour de Ski at the beginning of January.

The final cross-country skiing World Cup stage before the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics takes place in Goms, Switzerland beginning on Jan. 23.
