Ski jumping took us on a rollercoaster of upsets and long-awaited victories across six contests at Milan Cortina 2026.

The heavy gold medal favorites — Slovenian siblings Domen Prevc and Nika Prevc — made a mark in their Olympic debut. With their older brothers, Peter and Cene Prevc, they became the first family with four siblings to each earn a Winter Olympics medal.

But they didn’t sweep every event. Germany, Norway and Poland pulled off their best jumps to claim unexpected triumphs over usual ski jumping powerhouse Austria.

Mixed team normal hill: Slovenia reigns supreme for consecutive Olympic titles

Ski jumping legends Domen and Nika Prevc led Slovenia to a second Olympic title in mixed team normal hill. They were joined by Anze Lanisek and Nika Vodan. Vodan and Peter Prevc were part of the team that won the event at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Norwegians Anna Odine StromMarius Lindvik, Eirin Maria Kvandal and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal took silver  — over 30 points behind the Slovenians. Japan's Sara Takanashi, Nozomi Maruyama, Ren Nikaido and Ryoyu Kobayashi slotted into third after being challenged by Germany, which finished 4th.

Norway and Japan's silver and bronze medals mark each ski jumping powerhouse's first medals in the mixed team event after being left off the podium at the Beijing Games when multiple key athletes were disqualified due to suit violations.

Americans Annika Belshaw, Jason Colby, Tate Frantz and Paige Jones placed 7th — the United States' best ski jumping finish since the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics.

Men's individual normal hill: Newcomer Philipp Raimund commands the air

Poland's Kacper Tomasiak leapt the first of a series of gravity-defying jumps, securing his first of three medals at these Games.

Domen Prevc was the only jumper to crack the 300-point mark with 301.8 points.

Nikaido took silver for Japan with 295 points, nearly 7 points behind Domen Prevc.

Men's super team large hill: Austria pulls it together

After uncharacteristically missing the podium in every ski jumping event up until the men's super team large hill, it was uncertain if Austria would leave Predazzo with any medals. But in the final ski jumping event at Milan Cortina 2026, Austrians Jan Hoerl and Stephan Embacher found their form and won gold.

Most athletes struggled to gain enough speed on the in-run due to heavy snowfall during the second and third rounds. Three athletes were yet to jump in the suspenseful final round when the judges ruled to cancel the round due to the harsh weather conditions. The medals were rewarded based on the results from the second round.

Poland's Tomasiak and Pawel Wasek slotted into 2nd, a relief for the team that may have ended off of the podium if medals were awarded after the third round. Tomasiak was the final athlete to jump before the final round's results were cancelled. He was slow on the in-run due to the dumping snowfall and jumped too early, flying 124.5 meters and earning only 104.3 points. The grueling conditions prompted the judges and jury to cancel the round after Tomasiak's jump.

Norway's Sundal and Johann Andre Forfang narrowly hung on to bronze with a 0.3-point lead over Germany's Raimund and Andreas Wellinger.
