Below is a full breakdown of the top events and athletes to watch on Days 10 and 11 of the Paris Paralympics.
Wheelchair Basketball
The United States men’s wheelchair basketball team will go for a historic third Paralympic gold medal against Great Britain at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 7.
The men easily beat Canada 80-43 in the semifinals on Thursday with a strong offense led by Brian Bell (31 points, 10 rebounds).
For the first time since the 2016 Rio Paralympics, the U.S. women’s wheelchair basketball team will also play in the gold medal final. The game against the Netherlands, the reigning Paralympic and world champion, is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. ET on Sunday.
The U.S. beat China 50-47 in the semifinals on Friday. China brought the defensive pressure, but the U.S. women brought grit to the end of the fourth quarter. The win was seen as redemption for the loss to China in the semifinals at the Tokyo Games, and the women have said they're "hungry for gold."
Sitting Volleyball
Team USA’s women’s sitting volleyball team is looking to win a third straight gold medal. The 12-player team will go against China, who they've played in the last four Paralympic finals. The two teams go head-to-head at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
The Americans lost their opening pool-play match to China but have otherwise dominated on the court in Paris. They swept France and Italy in pool play, then took down Brazil in the semifinals by winning the third and fourth sets.
Para Cycling
Para road cyclist Dennis Connors, who made his Paralympic debut in Paris, will compete in the T1-2 road race at 3:30 a.m. ET on Saturday. Connors is a veteran, a world champion para cyclist, and the only American competing on a tricycle in Paris.
Team USA will also contend for a medal in the mixed H1-5 relay against host country France after winning bronze in the event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Closing Ceremony
The Paris Paralympics will come to a victorious finish with the Closing Ceremony on Sunday at 2:20 p.m. ET. It will take place at the Stade de France, the stadium that hosted para track and field events.
The performers have yet to be announced, but the celebration will include the extinguishing of the Paralympic flame, a celebration of the medalists, a handover between host city Paris to Los Angeles, and more. There's also a good chance the Phryges make an appearance!
