Overview
Since debuting at the 2016 Rio Olympics, rugby has been an exciting part of the Olympics. Olympic rugby features a variation of the sport also called rugby sevens, where each team fields seven players who play two seven minute halves. Both the men's and women's tournaments begin with group stage play with three pools of four teams.
In rugby, players aim to carry the ball forward towards the opponents end. Players can score a try (5 points) by touching the ball to the ground in their opponents zone, a kick conversion (3 points) or a penalty kick (2 points).
