After two appearances as a discretionary sport, skateboarding is now a permanent part of the Olympic Games. The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will be a homecoming for the sport, which has deep roots in Southern California.

There are a variety of contest disciplines within skateboarding, but two of the most popular ones are included on the Olympic program: street and park. Street skating features courses with urban obstacles such as stairs and rails, while park skating takes place in specially designed bowls similar to empty swimming pools.

In contest skateboarding, each run is evaluated by a panel of judges.

There will be a total of four medal events for skateboarding at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

• Park: Men's and Women's
• Street: Men's and Women's

Skateboarding at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will begin on July 18, 2028, and conclude on July 27. The scheduled start and end dates for each event are as follows:

• Women's Street: July 18-19
• Men's Street: July 19-20
• Men's Park: July 25-26
• Women's Park: July 25-27

Two temporary outdoor venues will be constructed in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area to host skateboarding events. The Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area will also have venues for 3x3 basketball, BMX freestyle, BMX racing, and modern pentathlon.
