You know about Tina and Milo, the respectively light-colored and brown stoats (weasels) who represent the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, but have you heard about Pieroguszki?
Pieroguszki, or "little pierogi" in English, is quickly becoming an Olympic favorite after fans took notice of the dumpling-shaped plushie sitting beside Team Poland during the figure skating team event. Pieroguszki first made its appearance in the rhythm dance portion of the event as Ioulia Chtchetinina held the plushie aloft in the Kiss and Cry booth while waiting for Sofiia Dovhal and Wiktor Kulesza's scores.
"Obsessed with when the Polish Olympics team members clutch their giant pierogi plushie when they get nervous," one user on X said.
"Okay so how do I get a pierogi plushie," another asked.
How indeed?
The plushies are hand-made by Luft, a small art shop in Katowice, Poland. They are designed in the shape of a pierogi, a traditional Polish dumpling filled with savory or sweet ingredients. The dumpling is one of the most well-recognized Polish dish, often stuffed with cheese and potatoes or ground meat.
Luft organizes classes for people with disabilities, teaching them how to sew Pieroguszki. According to Luft, the plushie became so popular after the figure skating team event that even Snoop Dogg requested one.
Within days of the plushie's rise to fame on social media, Luft announced that Pieroguszki was sold out. The shop temporarily suspended production due to illness but revealed they will be hard at work replenishing the plushies when they can. The amount of support Luft garnered in recent days caused the small company to launch a fundraiser to grow the business and expand their warehouse in order to accommodate all of the requests they received.
The plushies could also be found in Brooklyn, New York, at Pierozek, the only Michelin Guide Polish restaurant in the U.S. The Polish restaurant sourced the stuffed dumplings from Luft as booth decorations.
Pieroguszki has made its rounds in Milano Ice Skate arena, acting as support for Vladimir Samoilov as he received his final score in the men's free skate. Most recently, the plushie appeared in the arms of Chtchetinina and Michal Wozniak as they competed in the pairs short program on Sunday evening.
Team Poland finished in 10th place at the team event while Samoilov placed 21st in men's singles.
