It's rare that a star as big as Hilary Knight is starstruck herself. The U.S. captain is on the cusp of becoming the all-time American leader in goals and points in the Olympics. She won gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics and is hoping to lead the United States back to the top of the podium. And she’s got a huge game later Tuesday at 2:10 p.m. ET when the U.S. takes on its archrival Canada in its final round-robin game.
But there are some things — and people — who are just too special not to notice.
Knight has been off to a hot start in Milan, scoring a goal in each of Team USA's first three games, all convincing regulation wins. Her last goal was her 14th in Olympic play, tying her with Katie King, Natalie Darwitz and John Mayasich for the all-time lead among U.S. Olympians. She's also one point behind Jenny Potter's record of 32.
That alone is a great reason to smile. But Knight had an ear-to-ear grin upon spotting Snoop Dogg in the Olympic Village common area. It's understandable that it was difficult for her to fall asleep for her pre-game nap after that.
"Just unbelievably cool," Knight said in the video on her Instagram after showing a picture of the two stars together.
Before heading to the rink for Team USA's highly anticipated contest with Canada, Knight made sure she had one important piece of equipment — her Snoop pin, secured tightly to her lanyard.
