While a winter freeze has taken over most of the U.S., soon the Winter Olympics will take center stage across the globe and heat things up. The 2026 Games bring the promise of fiery competition, featuring the world's best athletes with inspiring stories that'll pull at nearly every heartstring.
Competition kicks off at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games on Feb. 4, and the Opening Ceremony follows on Feb. 6, when the world will meet the Olympians who will competing to be the best on Earth.
The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) officially named the 232 members of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Team that will compete in Milan Cortina.
“Today we proudly introduce the 2026 U.S. Olympic Team – a group of extraordinary athletes whose commitment, perseverance and spirit reflect the very best of Team USA,” said USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland.

A look at Team USA by the numbers:
- There are 98 returning Olympians for the 2026 Milan Cortina Games
- 7 four-time Olympians
- 10 three-time Olympians
- 22 two-time Olympians
- 33 Olympic medalists
- 18 Olympic champions with a combined 22 gold medals
The veteran slate of athletes set to represent Team USA for the fifth time at the Olympics, includes: Evan Bates (figure skating), Nick Baumgartner (snowboarding), Kaillie Humphries (bobsled) Hilary Knight (ice hockey), Elana Meyers Taylor (bobsled), Faye Thelen (formerly Faye Gulini, snowboarding) and Lindsey Vonn (Alpine skiing).
This will be the fourth Games for Mikaela Shiffrin (Alpine skiing) and the third for Chloe Kim (snowboarding), and both are two-time gold medalists. Jessie Diggins (cross-country skiing), Kendall Coyne Schofield (ice hockey), Lee Stecklein (ice hockey) and Nick Goepper (freeski) also will be competing at their fourth Olympics, and each have earned three Olympics medals.
NHL players are back in the Olympics for the first time since the 2014 Sochi Games and 23 players are set to make their Olympic debut in 2026.
The USOPC said this year's U.S. Olympic roster is the largest-ever winter U.S. Olympic Team.
