Tokyo Olympics betting odds: Team USA pegged for most medals, most golds

The Summer Olympics return to Tokyo, Japan, this week the first time since 1964. The United States, which is sending more than 600 athletes to Tokyo this time around, is the overall favorite in Japan with 1/10 odds to earn both the most gold medals and the most total medals.

China boasts the second best odds at 6/1 to win the most gold medals and 9/2 to win the most total medals. Host country Japan holds the third best odds at 25/1 to win the most gold medals (even with Great Britain and Russian OC) and 20/1 to win the most total medals.

Team USA set the pace in the 2016 Rio Olympics with 121 total medals, 46 of which were gold. China placed second with 70 total medals and 26 gold medals. And Great Britain placed third with 67 total medals and 27 gold medals. Japan finished seventh in 2016 with 41 total medals and 12 gold medals.
