IBU World Cup competition wrapped up in Nove Mesto na Morave, Czechia with the men's 15km and the women's 12.5km mass start events.

In the men's 15km, U.S. biathlete Campbell Wright had a career-best day that he'll ride right into the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.

Wright earned the first World Cup podium of his career, after he finished just nine seconds out of the top spot. The 23-year-old dual citizen shot 19 for 20 from the shooting range to secure his first World Cup medal.

"It was a great race. I enjoyed it a lot," Wright said after the win.

On battling it out with French biathlete Eric Perrot, Wright said, “It’s everyone’s dream, isn’t it? He’s one of the best biathletes in the world, and man, he makes shooting four zeros look easy. I promise you, it’s not as easy as he makes it look.”

Perrot of France won gold in the 15km mass start in 35 minutes and 59.6 seconds and now is the overall World Cup leader going into Milan Cortina.

The win was the 7th-career victory for the French biathlete, who also won the short individual in Nove Mesto na Morave.

"It was a really good day; I was pushing really hard on myself to make this 20 out of 20 again," Perrot said after the win. "It's so great to be here already on top. I know it's a good position to be in, but I will also keep going on to fight to make this until the end."

Norwegian biathlete Sverre Dahlen Aspenes also took home his first World Cup podium, when he claimed the final spot 7.2 seconds behind Wright.

The women's 12.5km mass start event wrapped up the World Cup competition, and it came down to a nighttime ski race for the win.

Julia Simon of France raced across the finish line to earn her first victory of the season in 33 minutes and 39.4 seconds.

"I was just trying to shoot clean and survive. For me, it's just really important to have a good feeling on the mat and my rifle and just enjoy," said Simon after the race. "It was a perfect race today, I'm really happy."

Oceane Michelon fought for the win with her French teammate but trailed 0.5 seconds behind to claim silver.

Italy's Lisa Vittozzi secured the final podium spot after she finished the race 2.2 seconds later than Michelon.

Team USA's Deedra Irwin finished 10th overall with one miss from the shooting range.

Olympic biathlon competition begins in Milan Cortina on Feb. 8 with the 4x6km mixed relay.
