The 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics exactly are one month away, and the U.S. biathlon team officially is set.
Lucinda Anderson, Paul Schommer, Joanne Reid and Sean Doherty are the final four biathletes who will join Team USA at the upcoming Games after being nominated by the U.S. Biathlon International Competition Committee.
These final-four athletes qualified for the Games after Olympic time trials, which finished up Monday, facilitated by U.S. Biathlon.
Anderson is set to make her Olympic debut in Milan Cortina at 25 years old.
The 2026 Games will be the second for Schommer, who competed in Beijing in 2022 and placed 7th in the mixed relay event.
Reid will compete in her third Olympic Games in Milan Cortina; she suited up for Team USA in 2018 and 2022 and finished 11th in the relay in Beijing.
This will be the fourth Olympic appearance for Doherty. The veteran biathlete also was part of the mixed relay team that placed 7th in Beijing.
Jake Brown and Chloe Levins were named as alternates to the U.S. biathlon squad.
Deedra Irwin, Margie Freed and Maxime Germain qualified for the U.S. Olympic team in December after the final IBU World Cup event of 2025 in Annecy-Le Grand Bornand, France.
Campbell Wright qualified prior to the beginning of the World Cup season. He'll be competing in his first Olympics for Team USA after switching from the New Zealand team after the Beijing Games. The 23-year-old is seen as the best chance for Team USA to take home a medal in the sport. Biathlon remains the only sport in which the U.S. has not earned a medal at the Winter Olympic Games.
It's important to note that all selections to the 2026 U.S. Olympic Team are subject to approval by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
IBU World Cup competition continues on Jan. 8 in Oberhof, Germany and Olympic biathlon events begin one month later on Feb. 8 at the Anterselva Biathlon Arena in Italy.
