The U.S. has had each of its teams successfully qualify for every Olympics since the Los Angeles Games in 1984.

In Tokyo, the women's team made history, capturing its first-ever gold medal after sweeping Brazil in the final, 3-0. The men's team went 2-3 and was eliminated in group play for the first time since the 2000 Sydney Games.
