When to watch wheelchair tennis during the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games
The wheelchair tennis competition will be held from Friday, August 30 to Saturday, September 7 during the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Played at all four Grand Slam tournaments each year, wheelchair tennis will make its 9th appearance at a Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Wheelchair tennis follows the rules of standing tennis with one exception – the ball may bounce twice before a player hits it back toward their opponent.
Athletes are divided into two classes – Open and Quad. In the Open Class, athletes have permanent impairment in one or both legs, but are not affected in their upper body, mainly the arms. Quad Class athletes have impairments in their playing arm, making the movements to swing the racket and their wheelchair more challenging.
Venue
The flared tires of each tennis athletes’ custom-built wheelchair will end up covered in the iconic red clay from the court inside Roland-Garros, home to the Paralympic tennis competition in Paris.
