Overview

Since making its Olympic debut in 1998, snowboarding has grown and evolved in a variety of ways. The halfpipes have gotten bigger, more events have been added to the Olympic program, and of course the sport's popularity has continued to surge.

The Olympic snowboarding program for Milan Cortina 2026 includes a trio of freestyle disciplines (halfpipe, slopestyle and big air) in which riders execute tricks and are scored by a panel of judges, as well as two racing disciplines (snowboard cross and parallel giant slalom) in which the first athlete across the line wins.

In total, there will be 11 medal events held at the 2026 Games. Each of the five disciplines will have a men's and women's event, plus snowboard cross will also see the return of the mixed team event which debuted in 2022.
