Kaysha Love started off the 2025-26 IBSF monobob World Cup season with a bang, taking home second place in Cortina.
The defending 2025 monobob world champion put on a spectacular show in the first race of the World Cup season. Love was electric in the first heat, finishing just one hundredth off first place. She looked poised to clinch the win in heat two, however, a slight bump in the final two corners robbed Love of some speed and dropped her just 0.15 seconds behind two-time world champion Laura Nolte of Germany in the overall standings.
Behind Love, Kaillie Humphries finished just off the podium in 4th place as she looks to defend her Olympic monobob title in February. Humphries struggled in the start of both of her runs but had impressive final sectors to secure 4th. She currently is the only Olympic monobob champion in history, after the event was added at the 2022 Olympic Games.
Elana Meyers Taylor was the surprise of the day for Team USA, finishing down in 19th after having difficulty putting together a clean run in both heats. A bobsled titan and defending Olympic monobob silver medalist, Meyers Taylor will look to learn from the event before returning to the track in Cortina d'Ampezzo, which also will host the bobsled and skeleton competitions at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The men’s two-man event wrapped up the competition. Pilot Frank del Duca put on a strong showing for Team USA alongside brakeman Joshua Williamson, finishing 5th overall in a field filled with strong German pairings (who finished in all three podium places). U.S. teammates Kristopher Horn and Hunter Powell looked strong in the first heat, finishing in 6th, but a mistake at the end of their second run dropped the pair to 11 in the overall standings.
