The 102 biathletes in the men's 20km individual competition in Oestersund, Sweden were met with considerably better conditions on the World Cup course. Unlike the previous day, wind was not a major factor in the event and shooting percentages were up across the board from the women's individual event, where the wind created unpredictable conditions on the range.
Norway's Johan-Olav Botn raced to his first career World Cup win and earned the yellow bib, completing the 20km individual event in 46:49.4. Botn turned every target on the range white, going 20-for-20 in shooting and finishing all by himself, 57.7 seconds ahead of teammate Martin Uldal. Uldal also was perfect from the range in capturing second place.
Sebastian Samuelsson of Sweden claimed third place on the podium by finishing one minute behind Botn. Aside from Samuelsson, Norway claimed the top-five spots in the event, as they continue to show their dominance in the sport.
Team's USA's Campbell Wright finished 27th.
Biathlon action resumes in Oestersund on Dec. 5 with the women's 7.5km sprint competition.
