Jordan Stolz extended his unbeaten streak in the 1500m, winning his third gold of the season in the distance on the first day of competition at World Cup No. 3 in Heerenveen, Netherlands.

The 21-year-old skated across the finish line in 1:42.55 minutes, shaving 0.45 seconds off a five-year-old track record held by the Netherlands' own Kjeld Nuis. Nuis finished 2nd.

Through the first two weekends of competition, Stolz topped the podium six times, more than any other skater in the men's or women's competitions. His golden tally now stands at seven through 11 races.

Jutta Leerdam claimed her second 1000m gold of the season, finishing 0.12 seconds ahead of reigning World Cup champion Miho Takagi. Takagi's 2nd-place finish was her second-straight after electing to skip the distance at the World Cup opener to improve her form.

Brittany Bowe, who owns the world record in the distance, placed 4th. She has yet to make the podium in the 1000m this season.

Norway's Ragne Wiklund took the first women's 5000m gold of the season, skating across the finish line just over one minute ahead of second-place finisher Isabelle Weidemann. The Canadian skater is the reigning Olympic silver medalist.

Former world champion Joy Beune finished third, ending her four-race unbeaten streak. At the first two World Cups, the Dutch skater won gold twice both in the 1500m and 3000m.

Czechia's Martina Sablikova, who won 10-straight world titles in the distance between 2007 and 2019 and took bronze at the 2022 Olympics, came in 5th.

The Heerenveen World Cup continues Saturday, Dec. 6, with the men's 10,000m, the women's 1500m, and the men's 1000m.
