The men's and women's 10km individual interval start classic events took place during stage two of the Tour de Ski in Toblach, Italy under sunny skies.

It was Norway's day on Sunday for the men in the sprint free competition and it was a sea of red again on Monday. The Norwegians swept the podium for the second day in a row, this time in the 10km interval start event.

Mattis Stenshagen, a 29-year-old Norwegian cross-country skier, topped the podium for the first World Cup victory of his career. Stenshagen had the fastest-overall time on the day and crossed the finish line in 22:11. He beat out the elder statesmen of the Norwegian team and the top skier in the world, Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo, just by 8.9 seconds.

Klaebo took second place after he finished just 1.2 seconds ahead of his teammate Emil Iversen, who completed the sweep for Norway.

Team USA's Gus Schumacher finished 17th overall.

On the women's side, Norway also reigned supreme during stage two of the Tour de Ski.

Norwegian Astrid Oeyre Slind grabbed the Tour de Ski climbing bib and the win after she finished the 10km in 25:33.

Austria's Teresa Stadlober crossed the line seven seconds behind Slind to claim second place.

Team USA's Jessie Diggins collapsed after she finished 1.8 seconds behind Stadlober to secure the final spot on the podium. With the third-place finish, Diggins also sealed the lead in the overall Tour de Ski standings after two stages.

"It's a good feeling when you're laying in the snow at the finish line, 'OK, that was it,' and that's really what I'm chasing," Diggins said after the race.

Tuesday is a rest day for the skiers and Tour de Ski competition continues on Dec. 31 with the men's and women's 5km heat mass start freestyle. It's a brand new event for stage three and is expected to feature dynamic and exciting competition.
