Known as America's pastime, baseball will make its return to the Olympic stage in 2028 as the United States hosts the Summer Games for the first time since 1996.
Baseball's inclusion in the Olympic program has been sporadic. It existed as a demonstration sport in several editions of the Games going as far back as 1900 before making its official debut in 1992. It was then cut from the Olympic portfolio in 2012 and reintroduced for a year at the Tokyo Games, which took place in 2021.
Cuba leads the all-time Olympic medal count with five (3 gold, 2 silver). The United States and Japan are tied for 2nd, each collecting one gold, one silver, and two bronzes for four prizes total.
