Overview
Judo, a combat sport created in Japan, was first contested at the Olympics in 1964.
During each match, two judokas compete against each other, as they attempt to throw their opponent on their back, pin their opponent, or force their opponent into submission with a choke hold or joint lock. The most valuable type of score, known as an ippon, immediately ends the match.
