Jordan Stolz collected his third gold medal of the weekend in Heerenveen, setting a new 500m track best in the process.

The 21-year-old skated across the finish line in 33.90 seconds, just 0.08 seconds off the previous mark, held by Stolz's Dutch rival Jenning de Boo. Stolz set new records in each of his three signature distances over the course of the weekend, shaving 0.45 seconds off the five-year-old mark in the 1500m and 0.7 seconds off the previous best in the 1000m (which also was owned by de Boo).

De Boo finished in 2nd place behind Stolz in the 500m.

The United States also earned some hardware in the women's mass start, where Mia Manganello skated to her third career individual medal, finishing in second, and in the men's team sprint.

The 36-year-old Manganello won her first individual World Cup prize (gold) at the season opener in Salt Lake City. She remained on the podium at World Cup No. 2, finishing 3rd.

Stolz, who added the mass start to his World Cup catalog this season, placed 23rd. He earned his first World Cup medal in the distance at the Calgary World Cup, a bronze.

The U.S. trio of Conor McDermott-Mostowy, Cooper McLeod, and Zach Stoppelmoor then earned silver in the season's first team sprint competition, finishing the race in 1:18.16. The Dutch took first place, setting a new track record of 1:17.22.

Last year, the United States took the overall season title.

For the second-straight competition, the Dutch women swept the 500m podium. Femke Kok remained unbeaten in the distance, collecting her third gold medal this season. Jutta Leerdam and Marrit Fledderus rounded out the top three.

Erin Jackson, the reigning Olympic champion in the distance, scratched from the race due to a hamstring injury. She did the same with the 1000m on the first day of competition.

The World Cup will continue December 12-14 in Hamar, Norway. The fourth stop of the five-leg tour will mark the end of the window in which skaters can secure Olympic quota spots for their countries ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in February.
