The first snowboarding medals will be awarded in men’s big air. Japan, led by Hiroto Ogiwara, boasts four strong riders among the 12 finalists, but reigning gold medalist Su Yiming of China is hard to bet against. The lone American in the final is 17-year-old Ollie Martin, who has broken out over the last year and could contend for a medal. Also keep an eye on Ian Matteoli, who finished 2nd in qualifying and could deliver host nation Italy its first medal of the 2026 Milan Cortina Games.

The figure skating team event continues with two-time world champion Ilia Malinin set to make his debut on Olympic ice.

Freeskiing begins in Livigno with qualifying for men’s and women’s slopestyle. The U.S. brings a stacked roster — one featuring reigning gold medalist Alex Hall and two-time World Cup champion Mac Forehand — to the men’s event, but a plethora of international stars, such as New Zealand’s Luca Harrington, will make this a very competitive contest. China’s Eileen Gu enters as the favorite for the women’s event as she begins her quest to win three gold medals at these Winter Olympics.

After kicking off the tournament with a 5-1 win over Czechia, the U.S. women's hockey team will look to maintain that momentum when they face Finland. Saturday will be the first game for the Finnish women; their planned opening game against Canada was postponed due to illness. At least half of the Finnish players were sick with the Norovirus or were quarantined due to potential exposure.

On the first day of sliding at the Cortina Sliding Centre, the men's singles luge competition will begin with the first two (of four total) runs. Team USA will have two athletes competing: Jonny Gustafson and Matthew Greiner.

Slovenia's Nika Prevc could make Olympic history on the hill. The reigning world champion hails from a ski jumping family, and her two older brothers are already Olympic medalists. If she lands on the podium, the Prevcs will become just the third family with three or more siblings to each earn a Winter Olympic medal.

A Dutch woman has won this event at every Winter Olympics going back to 2014. Joy Beune or Ragne Wiklund could extend that streak. No American is entered in this event.
