Johannes Lochner's sled was the last to cross the finish line at Cortina Sliding Centre, concluding sliding competition at Milan Cortina 2026.

In bobsled, it was an eventful Games for Germany, which took eight of the 12 available medals.

The United States took home three medals, which included a thrilling gold for Elana Meyers Taylor and two bronze medals for Kaillie Humphries.

It didn't take long for bobsled to get its signature moment at the 2026 Olympics.

In what was perhaps one of Milan Cortina's greatest triumphs, 41-year-old Elana Meyers Taylor came from behind on the final run to win her first gold medal at her fifth Olympic Games. She trailed favorite Laura Nolte through three runs, but the German's mistake on her last run vaulted Meyers Taylor to the top.

At 41, Meyers Taylor etched her name in multiple record books with the win:

  • Became oldest U.S. woman to win a Winter Olympic medal and the second-oldest woman to win a Winter Olympic gold medal
  • Tied speed skater Bonnie Blair as the most decorated U.S. woman in Winter Olympic history
  • Became one of four U.S. Winter Olympians with six or more medals (joining Apolo Ohno, Bode Miller and Blair)

Bronze medalist Kaillie Humphries added a fifth Olympic medal and, at 40, became the second-oldest woman to win a Winter Olympic bobsled medal.

Germany wasn't interested in relinquishing the dominance it stamped on two-man bobsled at Beijing 2022.

This time, it was Johannes Lochner winning his first Olympic gold over four-time gold medalist and defending champion Francesco Friedrich. It was Lochner's third Olympic medal and Friedrich's fifth.

Preserving the second consecutive sweep was Adam Ammour in his debut Olympic event.

American Frank Del Duca finished 4th with Joshua Williamson, and it was by far Del Duca's best-ever Olympic event. He finished 13th in both two-man and four-man in Beijing.

Two-Woman Bobsled: Nolte/Levi defend gold, Humphries gets 6th medal

🥇: Laura Nolte / Deborah Levi (GER), 3:48.46

Nolte had the opportunity to bounce back after her monobob heartbreak by repeating as two-woman gold medalist with push athlete Deborah Levi.

The two did so with authority, beating fellow Germans Lisa Buckwitz and Neele Schuten by over half a second in the end.

Humphries took an incredible sixth Olympic medal with bronze, joining Meyers Taylor, Ohno, Miller and Blair as U.S. Winter Olympians with six or more medals. It was push athlete Jasmine Jones' Winter Olympic debut. Jones finished 4th in the 400m hurdles at Paris 2024 and was a silver medalist in the event at the 2025 World Championships.

Four-Man Bobsled: Swiss spoil another German sweep

Through the first three runs of four-man bobsled, Germany seemed well on its way to an unprecedented second sweep after occupying the entire two-man podium.

But Switzerland, piloted by Michael Vogt, had other plans as the Swiss sled just edged out two-man bronze medalist Ammour on the final run to take home the country's first four-man medal since Torino 2006.

For Lochner, it was a second gold of the Games and a sweep of both bobsled events. Friedrich took silver in both and ended the Games with six Olympic medals.

American pilots Kris Horn and Del Duca took their sleds to 11th and 12th, respectively.
